Can someone give me some advice? I'm thinking of getting a table and setting it up I'm my garage. Get some Friends from work and greater Portland area and start playing again. Am I going to need to get a tornado table? I have notice there are some Harvard tables on craigslist for just a couple of hundred dollars.

If you can afford it get a tornado. Plan on spending at least $500 for a decent one. I think Ben from Van. still has a couple of coin ops for sale, not sure what he is asking. Good luck and maybe we will see you out playing somewhere.

Sir Merlock, welcome to the portland foosball scene. When considering the purchase of a foosball table, I would advise you too look at the resale value on the table before purchasing it...
You can buy a used Tornado in good condition for around $500.
You can buy a sportcraft/harvard table for...well...if you wait long enough, you will find one for the price of FREE.
If you want to play once every 6 months, off and on...buy a Tornado. You will be able to sell it for near what you bought it for and at least you will be spreading a good thing to your friends who come over to play.
or
If you want to play seriously...by seriously I mean that you want to play tournaments and such(see Oregon State Championship 2010~! In November) you should also buy a Tornado, because otherwise you are just wasting your time trying to get better on a table that no one uses in competition. Also, there are some quality brands like Fireball, Bonzini, TekBall, Garlando, Warrior, Dynamo, and a few others that...well, if you have one at your house, let me know!
Finally, in summary, don't buy a sportcraft(or other similar Costco, GI Joes, weeneys, etc etc etc) unless you are planning a trip to Detroit Lake and you need some extra firewood.

Thanks for the advise. I defently see the value in the tornato. I have played on them before, there very nice. My family had a 1000 dollar table when I was growing up. Took me a while to get used to the 3 man'd goalie on the tornato. I will start saving my doe hopefully i can get one in a couple of mnths. Any place in portland /vancouver area were I can play ?

For playing locations, go back to the homepage PortlandFoosball.com and look on the left side for the "Where-Tournament playing locations" link.
