Hey!! How about some more friendly foos competition? I've installed the "singles ladder reporting apparatus" at Ballad Town Billiards. Hurry in to sign up and get your name on the Ladder. Top Rung at the end of the month gets the pot! Here are the rules:
Foosball Single Ladder Rules:
1) Initial location (rank or "rung") will be determined by the order of sign-up: the first person signed up will occupy the top rung, the second person will get assigned to the 2nd rung, etc. Players must register a contact number to be used for receiving challenges.
2) The signup fee is $1. All of the signup goes into "the pot".
3) Players move up the ladder by winning singles matches played with the players on the rungs above them.
4) Players may challenge 1 or 2 rungs above their current position only.
5) Players must accept a challenge UNLESS they have an outstanding challenge of their own. For those cases where a player does not accept a challenge, it will be assumed that the challenging player has won.
6) In the case where a player has issued a challenge, then is subsequently challenged by another player below their current ranking: If the player loses the initial challenge, they must immediately accept the subsequent challenge.
For example, assume the following ladder ranking: A, B, C, D, E, F. C challenges A, then is challenged by E. A must accept C's challenge, but C does not have to accept E's challenge UNLESS C loses to A (at which point he must accept, assuming E has not withdrawn the challenge). If C wins the match against A, he will then be "out of reach" of E, since he would move into place above A (the order at that point would be as follows: C, A, B, D, E, F).
7) Match winners are responsible for reporting and recording the results to the ladder-play director.
8) At the end of each month, the person at the top of the ladder wins the pot.
9) For the next month, the ladder is "turned upside down": the lowest person on the ladder goes to the top; the highest person goes to the bottom. New signup fees are assessed, and the ladder-play recommences.
10) Matches are best 2-of-3, games to 5 (with the tie-breaker rule in place).
11) The Challenger pays the first set of quarters, but also gets the choice of side or drop.
12) New players may be added to the bottom of the ladder at anytime.
13) Matches may be played at any time: there is no set challenge ladder schedule. Players are encouraged to play their matches at BalladTowneBilliards, since the ladder reporting apparatus is located there. However, with mutual consent, matches may be played when and where ever.
14) Players will be assigned a rating, based on their position on the most recent Oregon ratings schedule. Players rated 6 and above will be considered "3"s; players rated 4 or 5 will be considered "2"s; players rated below 4 will be considered "1"s. Absolute beginners will not be given a rating. Matches will be handicapped, such that, for each game, the lower rated player will be given a spot equal to the difference in their rating. For example, a 3 playing a 2 will give the 2-rated player a one-point spot; a 2 playing a newcomer will give the newcomer a 2 point spot; etc.
15) While there is no limit on the number of matches a player may play, they are not required to play more than 1 match per day.
