If I decide to come and play a little foos in late Sept. I dont know which tourney to play in...The OSC or the Western Open....both seem to be on the same date. Hmmm...maybe I'll play both. Alright pidgeons...I have a couple of questions...the Mega Byp/Dyp says 14+...whats that mean?...Does that mean I have to have a 5 partner?...or can I have a 9 partner. I also see that Dan Kaiser is rated a 5...(lol)... ..so actually I could bring Dan to this event. Anyway some clarity on this would be appreciated. Plus the Mixed event seems a little small for payouts...I mean if all the ladies that play in the NW showed to this event ...it would be a tough event with quite a few teams...probably 10 atleast. Anyway just my 2 cents...I'll let the ladies voice their own opinion on that. ...

Anyway just my 2 cents...I'll let the ladies voice their own opinion on that. ... Good questions, Rick OSC needed a name change for several reasons. It became confused with the last event in Oregon last month. Second, this event is larger than just Oregon. We felt that many people will come from other states/Canada and I didn't want to limit it to a perception of "OREGON ONLY". This is an ITSF event, the first to my knowledge for our region. This might draw some players from outside our sphere of influence. BYP/DYP "Shake N Bake" teams with a combined total of 14+ points will pay the $30 per team. 13- total points will pay $20 for it's team. An example; You, Rick Martin 10 pts, can play with anyone that is a 3 or less and pay $20. You play with a 4 or more, you will pay $30. The teams that are stacked will tend to fair better. OM in Seattle had 9 teams. Seattle and the region has far more women players. We figured it at 7 teams. You are correct, but that if stands in the way of lots of things. It will be nice to add money to a individual event. I would rather be safer than sorrier. Fireball Manufacture and I are looking to improve the Foosball environment in the Pacific Northwest with many more events. I have felt that we could use a little push. These are the tables that should have been debut in Seattle in May. We will see what you and the others think of these Coin Op tables. These tables are the most player friendly table I have ever played on. Yes, I am bias but the fact remains, that I am a player first and foremost. I know what it takes to make a table better. Dennis, at Fireball, knows what it takes to make it better. We have made a better playing table, together. www.fireballtablesoccer.com to see more... Thanks pal, Brad

The Oregon State Championship was meant to be a homegrown event.
Maybe it did outgrow it's name, I guess we shall see. How did Fireball get left out of the name though?

Mr. Sac, Tornado or Garlando do not apply their name to the event unless it is the World Championships of BLANK. Please take a look at the names on the Foosball announcement website. www.foosball.com/schedule/I could have stated, "Tables provided by Fireball" but I figured the background logo says it in a sublet way. Losing the name of OREGON STATE came , in part due to the confusion produced with, "Oregon only" event. Mostly it came to the fact that the name is restrictive. If I lived in Washington and I was to brag about winning something, I believe I would rather share that I won a larger REGIONAL event then a individual state event like Oregon. So, how about we have another event called the Oregon State Championships, say earlier 2012 on Fireball tables. I am willing to provide the tables and lights, if someone would like to roll with this... Brad Laurine

Both events will do well. Western Open isn't really representative of the turnout though. In the past, most of the people have been Oregonians(EST 60%), Washingtonians(EST 25%), Canadians from all over(EST 10%) and the rest(5%) made up of California, Idaho, Nevada and Utah.
The origin of the Oregon State Championship was to crown a state champion, culminating in a multi state playoff.
The intent was never to get Frederico or Mares to come all the way up to Oregon...
If the purpose of the tournament is now to attract players from all over the US and Canada, then that's great too! There still should be an Oregon State Championships though...that way we can crown the best players in the State...guys and gals that play day in and day out in the state should be recognized.

Please take a look at the names on the Foosball announcement website. www.foosball.com/schedule/ Brad, I went back and looked at the Bonzini events, and it seems all of them have Bonzini in their names(look at the actual fliers), except in the Carolina's. -Montreal Majeur Provincial Bonzini -3rd annual crystal coast foosball event - 2011 Bonzini USA Kickoff Foosball Event -Quebec City Bonzini Major -Bonzini World Championships -Bonzini Master Series The reason Tornado tournaments don't say "Tornado" is because everyone just assumes all competitive tournaments in the USA are played on Tornado.

I guess then Canada likes stating that it is a Bonzini event. ;D I left Bonzini out due to it being a bad example and hard to explain but I guess I will now... Carolina is the home grounds of Bonzini USA. Alan Cribb's territory and knows that it is NOT a Bonzini event. Bonzini is a French company and sold the rights to Alan many years ago. Bonzini USA is completely separate.
I will in the future, put on the flier, "tables by Fireball". I must admit, I thought it is pretty clear that this is held on Fireball tables.
To make this perfectly clear to everyone, including myself. This is NOT a Fireball sponsored event. Fireball and myself are making it possible to play on the table. Fireball, as a manufacture is not giving me money to run or sponsor this event. Therefore, I don't think it should be called the FIREBALL Western Open.
Let's say that NIKE sponsored the event. Nike's money to run it and host it on Fireball tables. Then I would put NIKE Western Open, tables by Fireball
Tornado is not any longer providing the money to run tour events. Mary is running the Tour. Tornado and her have an agreement. IFP is the promotion arm. Tornado is the manufacture and is proving is a much better way to go. Keep the damn Manufacture out of the middle of the Promotions.
Do you believe someone will be confused whether this event will be on a Fireball table or a Tornado table? If that is the case, then, I think, they didn't look at a flier.
I hope this helps explains why Fireball is not the NAMED sponsor.

Does anyone think the name will influence who shows up to the event?
Brad and Mike: I will be there with my setup. Try to confirm the hotel has no problem with the PA system so Jenifer can call matches.

Pat, on the name. Yes, it does help to make it a regional versus a state in the eyes of the ITSF. I too follow the general rule of thumb... bigger is better. Now, don't take that out of context.
You are all good on the room for your sound system.
Does your wife know about Jenny?

I guess I am old school but the name of any tourney doesnt mean anything to me unless it has World or U.S. Open attached to it. For me it has been a combination of payouts and competition that determine if I am going to attend or not. Since the days of decent payouts are dust in the wind now its more of competition that is the determining factor. Plus since I have never kept one trophy in my foos career ...trophies have never pushed my button...I would rather tourneys give a jacket (with tourney name on it) for 1st and t-shirts (with tourney name on it) for 2nd and 3rd...cost would probably be about the same. I am quite sure I am in the minority with my opinion on trophies so its not a issue with me.
I think you guys changed the name of the Oregon State Championship cuz Wrap Daddy and The Rocket were defending Champions.......Just like you all changed websites together and didnt tell the Rocket....you all didnt think I would find you ..did you. What you didnt know is that I have a GPS chip on some you (like Mr. Floppy).....you can run ...but you cant hide.

I think the name change is significant. I would rather have a trophy that says "Western Open" than Oregon State. To me, trophys are everything. I don't play for the money, I know it isn't a pro sport. I play for the title and it is better to win when the competition is stronger.
Any idea what the trophys will be like for this one? I don't think too much of my soccer ball trophy from the last one... The WSO from 2010 was decent. Anyway I like the name change, but I probable won't be coming because the Bart O is the next weekend after this.
