Hi guys! I know there's a list on portlandfoosball.com of tourneys in PDX, but I just wanted to ask about more info. about them. I'm interested in the tourneys that don't require 21+ (I'm still 20). Anyone going to these tourneys? Which ones have good turnouts? How long do they last/what are the prizes? I'm an amateur, just thought I'd check out the tourneys to see how well I'd do. Thanks!

hi jonairz,
Under 21 is a bit of a problem. Most of the events are in bars. The Bull Mountain bar in Tigard is under 21 until 9pm. There were two tables there but the only other place is the Blitz for any quality play that I know of at this time. What part of the Portland area are you in? Someone might know other places to play but like I said "problem" sorry to say. What type of table do you like to play? Do you prefer goalie or forward? Anyway this page doesn't seem to get to much traffic anymore. Most of the talk is on NWfoosball.com which I see you already found. Decent page. As far as a rank goes if you kick butt your rank goes up fast if you don't it goes slow. But you have to be able to play so the local players can make that decision for the local events. They are pretty good with that. Good luck and keep playing hopefully things will pick up. By that time you will be 21.

Thanks green snake!
I went to Blitz on Thursday night, there were only 2 other guys there, Dennis and Jack. The waiter said there usually is a tournament there so I went... I heard the guys who organize the tourney went to Hawaii or something. I'll try to go again on Thursday night. Should I hit up the Bull Mountain bar or Blitz on Thursday nights? What time do people usually show up/how long does the tourney last? I'm by the airport, but I can drive. I used to play on my table at home when i was like 10-13, but just recently played on some friend's tables and want to play it more regularly. I want to play in a tournament to see how good I am. My friends aren't really a match for me, I can win a 1v2 using only my left hand lol. They're decent, not horrible, but not amazing either. I was born with amazing reflexes, and my other strength is mindgames (tricking/reading the opponent). I played on the Tornado table at blitz, and it was super nice! Way faster than what I'm used to, but I practiced a bit on it. I like goalie better, but as far as skill, I think I'd be a better forward because I'm not used to playing goalie against the snake shot or some of the more advanced shots. My best shot is a tic-tac pull shot. It's pretty accurate. As long as I am patient enough to wait for the open lane. I can also keep the ball on the offensive side of the field with offensive blocks for a long time. I'll be 21 in february, so hopefully i can join that one tourney in feb and get a good ranking.

Hey jonairz, Yeah a couple went to Hawaii, how sweet. Bringing the NW game to Hawaii. So things should pick back up soon. Ryan replied to your nwfoosball.com spot. He's a strong player along with a few others that go to the blitz. So when you go be ready be ready to see plenty of power foos. Be patient and you could learn alot by feb.

Isaac, on the places to play page, you are still showing Ballad Towne Billiards as all-ages. They changed to 21_and_over quite a while back. I no longer show on Tuesdays, since nobody else did. Can you change the info page? The bartender on Tuesday (Charlie) likes to play though, so anybody that has a hankering could get a game or two out of him. And Fridays as been "Free Foosball Friday" for several months. Both tables are on free play that night. Not too many people come out though...not even me (but if I know someone is going to be there, I'll always make time to play).
